There are many career choices in Health Care, but there are only a few that excite me. One of those is gynecology. After hearing about this type of physician, I wanted to learn more about their job. Becoming a gynecologist would let me experience different realities while letting me help others. I am also interested in the care of women, such as their reproductive health, prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and other horrible diseases like ovarian cancer.

Gynecologists work in many different places. Many work in hospitals. Others work in doctors’ offices. There are also some gynecologists that work for themselves by owning their own private practices. Some of these doctors work in outpatient clinics, too. They may also want to specialize their work. Some of these specialties include adolescent gynecology and infertility.
This career comes with many advantages, along with many disadvantages. Some advantages of this job is the pay and the occupation in itself. This career is a good way to give a good life, financially. In order to make the money correctly and be happy with it, you have to enjoy and love the job. This career choice is a joy for me because I would get to research the functions of the female’s reproductive organs. This could possibly lead to me finding a cure to some horrible disease. I would be helping lots of people. On the other hand, there are some small disadvantages. Income and social status is one of the determinants of health. Being able to have a secured, low cost housing that provides for every individual or family during their whole lifetime is a major determinant of health and is important to good health. As Dr. David Hulchanski and colleague’s research “Three Cities” at the University of Toronto stated; “Housing insecurity is linked to income insecurity which is, in turn, leads to illness and premature death” (RNAO,2013).
