Assignment: Pharmacotherapy for Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Disorders

The GI tract’s anatomy and physiology are impacted by gastrointestinal (GI) and hepatobiliary disorders. Many of these illnesses share symptoms like fatigue, nausea, bloating, cramping, constipation, and abdominal pain. Advanced practice nurses must carefully assess patients and recommend a course of treatment that focuses on the cause rather than the symptom because various disorders can share the same symptoms. Week 4 Assignment for NURS 6521N

Based on medical history and the unique characteristics of the patient, a suitable drug therapy plan can be suggested once the underlying cause has been determined. You will analyze a case study of a patient who exhibits signs of a potential GI/hepatobiliary disorder in this assignment, and you will create a suitable drug therapy plan.

To Prepare
  • Review the case study assigned by your Instructor for this Assignment
  • Reflect on the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and drugs currently prescribed.
  • Think about a possible diagnosis for the patient. Consider whether the patient has a disorder related to the gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary system or whether the symptoms are the result of a disorder from another system or other factors, such as pregnancy, drugs, or a psychological disorder.
  • Consider an appropriate drug therapy plan based on the patient’s history, diagnosis, and drugs currently prescribed.
