Week 4 Assignment

Assignment: Assessing and Treating Clients with With Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is a rare disorder that causes mood and energy swings, resulting in depression and mania in patients. Proper diagnosis of this disorder is frequently difficult for two reasons: 1) Clients frequently present as depressed or manic, but both; and 2) many symptoms of bipolar disorder are similar to those of other disorders. Misdiagnosis is common, so you must understand the pathophysiology of the disorder thoroughly. Consider how you might assess and treat clients presenting with bipolar disorder as you examine the client case study in this week’s Learning Resources for this Assignment.
