Another is antisocial personality disorder in which a person is frequently displaying unlawful behavior such as stealing or causing fights. When a person has complaints about physical illnesses that cannot be explained medically and these claims lead to interference in their lives it is known as a somatoform disorder. Hypochondriacs fall into this category of disorders. People may also actually experience loss of motor or sensory functions that cannot be explained any damage or problems with their bodies. A dissociative disorder is involved more in the disturbance of identity or memory. People will sometimes forget traumatic events in their lives or forget who they are. Other cases involve the development of multiple personalities where a person assumes the identity of more than one person which are unaware of the other identities.Psychological disorders could be better defined. It is described as mental or behavior pattern that cause a person suffering and is not seen as socially acceptable of normal.Psychological Disorders Sample Paper The field is growing each year and they are developing a better understanding of how to diagnose and treat the disease. After reading about the DSM-IV-TR it does seem like a more efficient resource for strictly psychological diseases does need to be produced especially, because the amount of psychological disorders has grown so much in the past 60 years and will continue to grow. The medical model states that an “illness” must have a physical cause that can be diagnosed, treated, and in most cases cured. I do believe that this may be true for some psychological disorders, but not all of them can fit into this model. The biopsychosocial approach picks up where the medical model leaves off. It is very apparent that some psychological disorders can be influenced by a person’s environment, their social skills, and their culture.
Everyone has a personality with character traits, but when these traits are rigid and self-defeating, they may interfere with functioning and even lead to psychiatric symptoms. A psychological disorder is describe as any disturbance of emotional equilibrium, as manifested in maladaptive behavior and impaired functioning, caused by genetic, physical, chemical, biological, psychological, or social and cultural factors.
