The 4-MAT Review
The 4-MAT Review
The 4-MAT Review is a method of interacting with new ideas on multiple levels in response to texts, lectures, and real-world experiences. Both the Entwistle and McMinn texts will require a 4-Mat Review from you. Use the following four sections with accompanying APA-style, Level 1 headings to compile your 4-Mat Reviews:
Following the title and author, provide a brief synopsis of the work in no more than 500 “tight” words (about 2 pages). Write a straightforward summary to demonstrate that you’ve understood the material. This is neither a commentary or a list of contents; rather, it is a short and insightful overview of a much larger and more involved work. Include page numbers with direct quotations and cite the book at least once every paragraph.
- Practical Solutions:Expose yourself! Write about a moment from your own life that this book made you think about (in at least 250 words, but no more than one page). Tell it as it happened, complete with specific details and direct quotations of what was said. This is your own personal case study, confession, and tale in the form of Jesus’ teachings. Unless you develop this essential, individual connection, nearly nothing you read will stick with you. What mental movie started playing as you were reading the book? Tell your narrative and come up with some fresh concepts.
- In light of what you’ve read, what thoughts and concerns have arisen? Notate the text as you read it. Challenge the author’s intelligence by asking more perceptive queries. Ask yourself things like, “What bothers me about this book?” to get started. Go over the book’s merits and failings in detail. Keep this paragraph to no more than 250 words (one page). - Taking Corrective Measures: What Are You Planning To Do? Create a plan of action that follows the book’s main ideas. Your counseling will be affected in various ways by the concepts you discuss in this section. What adjustments will you make in your career and how will you communicate those to others? Don’t be vague when explaining your plan of action. Include at least 200 words (but no more than one page) detailing your thoughts on the matter.
Please use Microsoft Word to create and submit your assignments. Create a title page in APA format, noting your name, the title of the paper (with the book’s title in it as a reference), and the name of the citing institution (Liberty University). Remember that the most recent APA guidelines suggest limiting the title to no more than 12 words. Include a running head and page numbers on each page as well. You must also include a References page in your paper, on which you list all of the sources you used to research your paper. The 4-MAT Review
Please note: Your grades on the 4-MAT Reviews depend on the manner in which you address each of these 4 dimensions in response to your readings. Each review must be double-spaced and adhere to the lengths as noted above (not including the title page and References page). Use quotes strategically and sparingly, per current APA; in a paper this size, do not use longer (block) quotes. The 4-MAT Review
